12 Vulnerable Republicans Just Warned Their Leadership Not to Cut Medicaid

April 14, 2025

Milwaukee, WI - Fair Share America Executive Director Kristen Crowell released the following statement on a new letter from twelve Republican Members of Congress that urges GOP leadership to protect Medicaid for vulnerable populations.

“In recent months the public has demonstrated that protecting Medicaid goes beyond party or ideology, which is why Members of Congress in vulnerable districts are putting themselves on the record. However, talk is cheap. Every single one of the members who signed this letter recently voted to make hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid, and their letter today falls short of a full defense of the program including badly needed Medicaid expansion, full funding for the states, and numerous other aspects of Medicaid that provide life saving health care.

We will therefore continue to make our voices heard: No cuts to Medicaid, period, and no tax cuts for the rich.”
