Milwaukee, WI – Fair Share America Executive Director Kristen Crowell released the following statement on the newly advanced tax provisions from the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee:

“Every single Ways and Means Committee Republican just embraced a tax bill that would give trillions of dollars to the rich while taking from the rest of us - reducing health benefits and nutrition assistance we’ve paid for and raising our cost of living,” said Kristen Crowell, Fair Share America executive director.  “It shows a tragic indifference to the very real struggles of normal, working people. In order to save face in front of their constituents, Republicans are hiding behind misleading claims that everyone will see reductions in their taxes. Reducing people’s taxes for a year or two – while cutting their benefits and raising costs – in order to give the rich trillions for years to come is selling Americans out and they know it. It’s a billionaire pay out and is emblematic of the corruption that is tearing America apart.”
