NEW VIDEO: Fed Up and Left Out, Constituents Push Back on Lawmakers Who Put the Rich & Corporations First

Fair Share America releases new footage from summer bus tour to remind lawmakers how constituents responded to being sold out by their vote for OBBA.

Produced by Win O’Neal of CCR Studios, the video recaps the second leg of Fair Share America’s summer bus tour which made stops across the Southwest to hold lawmakers accountable on their votes for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). With clips from events in Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and California the video shows how people are speaking out against their elected officials for betraying their constituents, at a moment when DC is facing yet another test of budget priorities.

“People are being left behind in this economy. They feel it in their bones that the system is rigged against them and for the rich -- and they're right,” said Kristen Crowell, Executive Director of Fair Share America. “This video shows exactly how people on the ground are fighting back. We’re organizing, we’re lifting up voices, and we’re not going anywhere. From the fight over the OBBBA this summer to the shutdown threat in DC right now, we're standing with the people who are tired of being shut out to make sure their stories are heard.”

States, communities, and families are already feeling the negative impacts of OBBBA: health clinics and rural hospitals are rolling back services in anticipation of Medicaid cuts, food banks and school lunch programs are shutting down due to SNAP cuts, and state governments are facing impossible choices about what they can still afford to fund. It all could have been avoided, but the Republican leadership chose to instead inflict these dangerous cuts and still add $4.6 trillion to the national debt just to give billionaires and corporations another massive tax handout.

“We’ll never fix what's broken until leaders start telling the truth about why things are this way,” added Crowell. “We don’t have enough money to fund the things that help ALL of us thrive in large part because billionaires and corporations aren't paying their fair share, just like the rest of us do. It’s that simple. So for the politicians who continue to rig the system against the working people, be on notice: we aren't going anywhere."

  • Fair Share America shared a press memo outlining the priorities we heard from everyday people throughout the 10-week bus tour and how those apply to the debate over funding the government or facing a shutdown at the end of this month.
