Kansas City, MO (July 8, 2025) – Fair Share America and Unrig Our Economy continued their national bus tourMonday in Kansas City, Missouri, turning to a message of accountability for members of Congress who voted for the MegaBill. These include legislators like Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), who lied repeatedly about protecting his constituents’ access to Medicaid before voting to pass the largest cuts to Medicaid in our nation’s history – all to give massive tax handouts to the ultra-rich and corporations.

“Just because the cowards in Washington passed this bill over the weekend in the dead of night, we aren't going anywhere,” said Fair Share America Executive Director Kristen Crowell, speaking at a bus tour event in Kansas Cityyesterday [Video]. “If Members like Senator Josh Hawley think we are just going to forget about how they’ve sold out their constituents, they are dead wrong. Now, more than ever, we are standing shoulder to shoulder, coast to coast to say, ‘never again.’ Never again will we let the billionaires hijack our politics…take our money and run for the hills, when we know folks at home, right now, depend on all of us to stand together.”

Fair Share America works with state and local partners in over 38 states to bring the needs of our cities, towns and communities into federal tax and budget fights. Following Donald Trump’s signing the reconciliation bill into law on July 4th, Fair Share America continues to organize and spread the truth about how Republicans in Congress sold out working families in favor of the billionaire class:

  • This weekend (and continuing into the week) Fair Share America funded flyover banners condemning key members of Congress for their vote on the MegaBill:

    • Flying over Lansing, Michigan on Sunday, July 6, the banner read: “Rep Barrett cut your healthcare to give $ to billionaires.” [Video]

    • Flying over Warren, Michigan: “Rep James cut your healthcare to give $ to billionaires.” [Video]

    • Flying over Thornton, Colorado: “Rep Evans chose billionaires over us.” [Photo]

    • With more to come.

  • Fair Share America released a new video, “Moment of Truth,” that describes how people are coming together like never before, rejecting the kind of politics that puts billionaires over families, and working to build a country that works for everyday Americans. The video was produced by Win O’Neal, CCR Studios.

  • Yesterday, Fair Share America, Unrig Our Economy, Progress MO, SEIU Healthcare Missouri and Committee to Protect Health Care, gathered in Kansas City to say ‘never again’ to the kind of deeply unjust handout to the wealthy / cuts to public benefits that we saw in the reconciliation bill. The "Stop the Billionaire Giveaway" busmoves on to Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and central California later this week/early next week.

“What I am seeing on the ground is something totally different. We are seeing people come together to tell our stories, to listen to each other, and to hold each other up. We are going to keep organizing and never again will we believe the lies that Washington politicians give a damn about our communities,” Crowell says in the new video.
